How can I check the honesty of online business opportunities?
The Federal Trade Commission has a number of advisories for various types of 'online' or 'work at home' business types. Take some time to review them, and follow the FTC advice on what to look out for.
Here's one with some good general advice: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/aler...
Answering the Knock of a Business 'Opp'
It's not so hard to see why consumers would be drawn to ads for business opportunities that trumpet "be your own boss," "set your own hours," "work from home," and "earn money quickly." But the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says that business opportunity promotions like these often are scams that take consumers' money and fail to deliver on the promises.
Before investing in any "biz opp," the FTC suggests that consumers:
Look at the ad carefully. If it claims buyers can earn a certain income, it also must give the number and percentage of previous purchasers who achieved the earnings. If an earnings claim is there - but the additional information isn't - the business opportunity seller is probably violating the law.
Get earnings claims in writing. If the business opportunity costs $500 or more, then the promoter must back up the earnings claim in a written document. It should include the earnings claim, as well as the number and percentage of recent clients who have earned at least as much as the promoter suggested. If it's a work-at-home or other business opportunity that involves an investment of under $500, ask the promoter to put the earnings information in writing.
If the business opportunity is a franchise, study the disclosure document. Look for a statement about previous purchasers. If the document says there are no previous purchasers but the seller offers a list of references, be careful: the references probably are fake.
Interview each previous purchaser in person, preferably where their business operates. The FTC requires business opportunity promoters to give potential purchasers the names, addresses and phone numbers of at least 10 previous purchasers who live the closest to the potential purchaser. Interviewing previous purchasers helps reduce the risk of being misled by phony references.
Contact the attorney general's office, state or county consumer protection agency and Better Business Bureau both where the business opportunity promoter is based and where you live to find out whether there is any record of unresolved complaints.
If the business opportunity involves selling products from well-known companies, call the legal department of the company whose merchandise would be promoted. Find out whether the business opportunity and its promoter are affiliated with the company. Ask whether the company has ever threatened trademark action against the promoter.
Consult an attorney, accountant or other business advisor before you make the deal.
Take your time. Promoters of fraudulent business opportunities often use high-pressure sales tactics. But, if the business opportunity is legitimate, it'll still be around when you're ready to decide.

Is LMI a good franchise business opportunity?

Is LMI a good franchise business opportunity?
I think the results obtained from this business opportunity depends a lot on the person or company that decides to utilize it. In reading on their goals, I find no fault with it.The format they have prepared is to evaluate the needs and proceed with a plan, change whatever is necessary for increased growth and then measure the results. Sounds like solid intentions and possible good results.
Implementing the LMI process over several weeks offers invaluable benefits. First of all, this approach takes advantage of the time-proven principle that people learn by doing. At least 80 per cent of new ideas heard in a seminar are quickly forgotten. In the LMI process, participants immediately put into practice what they are learning, and new behaviors are applied directly to daily issues. I hope this helps.
Reply:No, it sucks! Click the link below and follow the steps. This is the financial vehicle you are looking for. Watch a 27-minute business overview from start to finish, it will answer all your questions. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Hit me back if this is for you.

Is there anything other than craigslist where you can list a business venture?
Just trying to see if theres any other sites similar to craigslist where you can list things such as online business opportunities state wide
Is there anything other than craigslist where you can list a business venture?
Kijiji.com and Backpage.com There are other classifieds but they won't bring you anywhere near as much traffic. I would start with these two first.

You have to try every possible way of spreading the word Even buying advertising on the grocery store shopping carts (i'm not involved in that). I opened my own business in 2001. I'm having fun.

Is Canada a nice place to live for immigrants as far as work and self-business opportunities are concerned?
My family and I are thinking of applying for the Canadian permanent residence very soon. I want to be self-employed by opening a shop/small business while my spouse who is a foreign doctor can practice there or work in a hospital/clinic. I seem bewildered by the pros and cons about living in Canada. Some say even foreign doctors really have a hard time finding jobs despite the shortage of doctors there; due to scarcity of jobs or bureaucracy, educated people have to take jobs as cab drivers or pizza men, for instance. Some even have the websites for those disliking Canada: www.notcanada.com and tell all kind of scary experiences there. Some for Canada say it's certainly a great place to be. I went to schools in the US, loved it there and have siblings living there permanently, but I'm worried about the high crime rate due to its relaxed gun control. So,I'm now thinking of Canada instead. Please could anyone help me give inputs here? Thank you very much, all!GBU!

Hi,Michiana!
Given your qualifications n capitals, just stay at where u r there.U'll have more success there than being in Canada.Govt of Canada only wants your money to finance all the so-called free things enjoyed by the Canadians now. Looking at some posted comments from rx77615...don't buy it!She didn't know u just asking if your spouse could maybe practice her medical skills there, instead of what she thought of u trying to match the so-called Canadian medical education according to her false perceptions. What a shame on her! I know that some foreign education is way better than Canadian,so don't feel discouraged.I myself went to the US n graduated from great universities (University of Michigan n the University of Pennsylvania) which are definitely way above Canada's schools in quality standards. She even didn't know or even forgot u said u had experiences living n schooling in the US although u detailed it already. It shows how ignorant she is, too bad...Good luck on your endeavors!
Reply:Canada is a good place to live in without the terrorist threats like that of 9/11 in the US.
Reply:I agree I'll travel to the states but I would never live there.
I have heard from the news that their is a government organization set up to help immigrnats with starting their own business. As for Doctors ...their are many educated doctors in Canada please son't fool yourself .But their is a shortage of funds that they are talking about that the goivernement is not giving enough any longer for beds etc ..many new doctors face the decision of moving to rural or suburbs to get jobs instead of staying in the city or going to the states for jobs .Did you think foreign doctors are more educated !!!
As it sounds your shocked that a foreign doctor can not come and move a canadian born doctor out for the job !
GUESS WHAT AS WELL..their are many university and educated people here doing jobs that are not their profession as well .
Canadians love Canada for thequlaity life we have here ...why don't you take a trip to a few parts of the states and then do the same in Canada . As it seems strange that you wantto move to either one of the countries that you do not know very much about . By the way America also has educated people ..don't be shocked if either country doesn't kick their own out of a job for you just because your coming from a foreign country
Reply:I wouldn't live any where else.
I like taking trips to the USA, but you couldn't get me to live there.
Reply:WOW. afraid of america because of our gun laws? thats insane. you're safer here than anywhere. remember: people who know you don't have a gun KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE A GUN and can't protect yourself. think about it

Are there any small business opportunities available, with no start up costs, and produce immediate results?
I was just wondering if there are any small business oppurtunities available that are reputable, and can produce immediate results, and not mlm's,or other scams???? I am very motivated, but my funds are depleted,so please respond if it's real......
Are there any small business opportunities available, with no start up costs, and produce immediate results?
There is a great company that cost nothing to join. Check out the site at www.drinkact.com/camaro. I have tried at least 5 different online companies and all have been jokes but with this business you can make as much money as you want. Check out the site it cost nothing to check it out and even better it cost nothing to join. I would love to help you out so feel free to e-mail me if you decide to join or even if you have any questions. I wish you the best of luck.
Take Care,
Kim
Reply:Yes, there are opportunities that can be done at very little costs. When I say that I mean less the $40 and you can get money the first week.
If you are interested please email me.
Reply:Yes, I'm involved in 10+ year old company. No start up costs and no cost for your web site, but it is a legitimate mlm. One can only expect to produce "immediate" results in any form of business when they are willing to do the work that is required. They may very well require training to start with. (What job have you ever done that didn't require training?). Best wished in your endeavor.
P.S. As you know, Guidelines do not allow spam, so I cannot post any details here.
Reply:I have tried them all. All are MLMs or scams. You need money to make money. Get a small business loan from the SBA and open a real business.
Reply:My wife has been on Avon.(look up Avon website on how to be an Avon representative or sales leader) there are no start up costs at all and you can get instant sales from customers in your area. Like almost any other business venture however, you need to put in a lot of hard work to succeed. There is no such thing as something for nothing, but in this case that something you need will be hard work, dedication , persistence and an wavering desire to succeed. I know you feel because i have been there before. I am not doing badly now with own ventures... Good luck
